How to Clean Cloth Car Seats
We're famous for our offbeat conspiracy theories here at Friendly Kia and our favorite one they don't want you to know about is the cupholder conspiracy. Our theory is that some automakers, not Kia btw, are making their cupholders extra narrow or flimsy to causes spills. They do this because behind closed doors, they've forged alliances with the automotive spot-treating folks and the stain remover pen folks.
Now, whether it's the shadow organizations behind the biggest auto manufacturers or simple human clumsiness, we've all spilled a drink or food item on ourselves and our seats in our vehicles. Although the immediate concern is typically cleaning up the person on which the food or drink has spilled, the vehicle's seats quickly come into focus as a secondary cause for concern.

While most leather and leatherette will wipe down before staining (along with Kia's YES Essentials® fabric), fabric seats are prone to adopting the substance and making it a seemingly permanent part of the seat's character. Luckily, there are some quick ways to clean them that will work in a majority of situations.
Cleaning Fabric Seats
For cleaning fabric seats, you have a few options.
- For light stains, find a sugar-less club soda and a spray bottle. Spray it on very lightly and then take a small brush and scrub the stain out gently. Afterward, wipe away the remainder with a towel.
- Laundry detergent works great on automotive cloth for the same reason it works great on clothing cloth. Simply mix a tablespoon of laundry detergent with a cup of hot water and pat down the stains with it. Lightly scrub the stain away with cold water and a towel.
- For deep and dark stains, you may want to consider mixing 8 oz. of vinegar with a teaspoon of dish soap and pouring the mixture into a gallon of hot water. Once mixed, take a towel and dab the area, then find a toothbrush to scrub the stain out. When finished, use fresh water to rinse out the stain residue.
As you can see, getting rid of a stain on a fabric seat isn't as difficult or expensive as it probably feels when the stain occurs. If you do have a tough stain that the above methods haven't worked to erase, you can quickly schedule detailing service by clicking here.
